What is your ideal hospital experience?

April 13th, 2009 | by Rick |
Rona asked:

I want to provide the patients and visitors at my hospital the very best experience. Based on your past hospital stays, what makes the biggest difference in how satisfied you are with your care? What made you the most satisfied? What was the most frustrating thing?

Lack of communication between health care providers (MDs, RNs, CNAs, etc.) leading to fragmented care. Very frustrating and dehumanizing.

nurses who explained things to you, seemed patient, and spoke calmly if i was nervous! Frustrating thing, Well i like to know what is going on during everything little thing, so i ask a lot of questions. SO when they wouldn’t answer all my questions i got upset! (Plus i was very nervous! I had to go in for a D&C, and had no idea what that was!)
i absolutly loved the nurse i had in the OR, one was nice enough to let me squeeze her hand while they put me under. Then when i woke up, i was chatting away, and the nurse then was really nice and kept talking to me and asking me questions!
They need to have a good bed side manner!
I hope that was enough. But everyone is different some people may not be a chatty as me! lol

best situations- the nurses and assistants are attentive, no drug mishaps, no sentinal events, food comes on time.
