There is a horrible nursing shortage. You can ask a lawyer and see if you can have anything done.

Report these people to the medical director of the hospital.

You can’t get rid of them but you can certainly file a complaint. Call the hospital and just ask the operator to connect you with whomever you need to talk to to file a complaint. Good luck. It can be very frustrating fighting the system.

Call the director of nursing at the hospital and file a complaint first. Then if you feel that strongly you should consult an attorney.

Call the hospital and ask to speak with patient relations. Let them know about your dissatisfaction and find out what they will do about it. I am not trying to defend the nurses and I don’t know the specifics of your situation, but (as a nurse) sometimes it is impossible to get someone on a bedpan because of their physical limitations or because the patient can’t let you know when they need a bedpan. As strange and awful as it sounds, sometimes it is just easier for the patient to soil the bed (not easier on the nurse but on the patient). The key here is that you have a nurse who will immediatly and properly clean the patient and change the linens that need to be changed. I worked in ICU and so often, our patients could not tell us they needed a bedpan or their skin integrity was so bad that the bedpan would cause more breakdown or more discomfort to the patient. Again, I can’t speak to your situation, but definitly call patient relations. They should be able to hear your concerns and offer a solution or reprecussions to the staff involved.
