In hospitals, did all the baby girls wear pink hats and the boys wear blue hats?

I saw a baby picture of me in the hospital and saw that I, a girl, was wearing a blue hat. I was wondering if all hospitals had the whole pink hat=girl, blue hat=boy rule?

I don’t think it matters. It’s just a color. They can’t make a rule about colors! Most hospitals now use yellow or light green.

When my kids were born, they were given hats that were white with blue and pink stripes.

The hospital I went to had striped hats (pink, white and blue).
And no that is not a ‘rule’. My cousin (a girl) had a blue hat also.

My son wore an offwhite colored hat, and white shirt. My first daughter wore a blue and pink striped hat, and my second daughter had an offwhite hat also, but it had this pom-pom thing sewn on the top that was blue and pink.

In the hospital where my baby was born, the little hats were beige.

In the hospital where I did a Labor and Delivery nursing preceptorship, we only had one color baby hat: it was blue and pink striped! The stripes were very tiny so that hat basically looked bluish!

In the first two hospitals that I used, they just used a white hat with pink and blue stripes on it. In the third hospital I used, they had a lady that knitted pink and blue hats for all the babies. Each gender baby got the appropriate colored hat. All hospitals are different though. Some just order hats from supply companies, some have them hand-made by volunteers. I would assume that if they did the pink and blue thing, then maybe there were a lot of female births and they had run out of pink. lol Who knows.

It doesn’t really matter because most hospitals have several hat colors or unisex hats. My son personally had a blue and pink hat.

the hospital I was in when I had my daughter didn’t go by that rule. Most of the hats were mint green or yellow. They had little cards in the baby beds to let everyone know what *** the baby is and who the baby belongs to, breastfed or not etc.

no your baby can wear whatever you want it to, they have no rules to say what colour, you decide its your baby.

When I had my daugher (dec 2nd) they put a red, green and white hat on her - volunteers make hats for the hospital. they did that for xmas - we didn’t get a pink one.

When i had my daughter 5 years ago i was allowed to dress her how i wanted. They didnt issue any hats only blankets at the hospital. most of hospitals now stick to yellow and green. Nice unisex colours. On the other note though i was pictured as a baby in a blue hat whilst still at hospital so i dont think the ruling was strict. I hope not anyway!!

it just depends on the hospital. the hospital, where i had my son, gave him a hat that was pink and blue striped. he just wore it when they brought him to me after his first bath and newborn tests were done. then, i took it off and put it away to go in his baby box. nobody took pictures of him in it. but it was a CUTESIE!

My hospital gave my son a blue hat with pink and purple stripes. I didn’t think it matter as long as he has sometime to cover his head with. At home with me he wore pink almost all the time. He get scared and start screaming when i dress him in dark colors like black or navy. Lol.
