Would people donate to build a hospital outside of the country?

I was wondering if its possible to build a non-profit hospital, say somewhere in Asia to help people who can’t afford health care, by donating sums of cash but not expecting anything in return?

happens in australia all the time.my local community has built a clinique and school in africa.just by fund raising and general donations.
