I have never heard that Florida is a great place for cancer treatment. I work in Los Angeles and we have two hospitals here where patients come from all over the world for cancer treatment. I can’t even name a hospital in Florida. However, there are many community hospitals where patients get wonderful care and I am sure Florida has those just like every other state.
I am just guessing, but perhaps they do well in cancers that typically strike older people since their population tends to be a little older. Start with the American College of Surgeons they are responsible for designating hospitals a “cancer hospital.” Once you have the names of the hospitals in Florida you want then contact the cancer registries at those hospitals and ask for a copy of their annual report. Every caner hospital with a caner program has to do one and they will freely give it out.
These reports will have information on their incidence of cancer, survival rates, etc. and compare their hospital to the state and national statistics. I don’t know if this will give you all the information you want, but I think it may be a good place to start. Hope it helps.
