Within the last 3 months my husband has had two brain surgeries and his thyroid removed…all cancer. We recieved treatment for each, all involving hospital stays, labs, specialists. The bills are literally over $500,000 and we are still recieving new ones daily. At what amount do insurance companies and hospitals consider a bill a medical catastrophy and charge these off?

What IS the a hospitals responsibility to the patient?

June 10th, 2009
DesiDani(still waiting for 12am) asked:

*A pt doesn’t have the will to live?
*The medical staff is doing everything professionally and medically possible for this patient.
*The patent’s family is blaming the medical staff because their parent is losing the “will to live”. They claim that no one cares and that we should talk to her. (Please note that medical staff in hospitals hardly have the time to urinate).

My question is does medical care include convincing the patient to live? What is the doctors and nurses responsibility to the patient outside of medical care? Is the offer of encouragement a part of it or is it an extra?

Do the worst diseases occur in hospitals, and what is the deal with hand sanitizer?

June 6th, 2009
asked:

I heard that using hand sanitizer frequently over a certain period of time causing ’super germs’, since the germs start to become immune.

Also, someone said that since hospitals keep the place extra sanitary, that is where horrible diseases, such as flesh eating ones, break out.

Is this true? Has anyone heard of this?

Need to address very important issue with HOSPITAL, whom do I direct this to?

mybusiness2 asked:

I have witnessed what amounts to negligent care in the person of a close family member at this particular hospital. Now, there’s even a greater issue which needs to be directed. This is not something for the sweet, friendly patient relations staff. I cannot afford to have the run around on this. It needs to get to the most important head of the hospital. Which title would this person hold?

where would I find help to get a credit company to stop harassing me for an unfair hospital bill?

jenna asked:

My insurance company at the time(2003) insists that the hospital double-billed them, and that they have taken care of it. A year has past and now a new credit company has called and threatened to hurt my credit if I don’t pay.

How much do hospitals charge for blood transfusions?

June 1st, 2009
Hipster Doofus asked:

I donate blood six times a year. I know that hospitals would have to charge for processing and testing and storing the blood but I don’t want to think that the hospital would make a big profit by charging an exhorbitant amount of money for blood that I am giving up for free. Any nurses or hospital workers know how much is charged?
